Season wraps up at the Fidelity Bank Ryder Cup

The final event of the 2021 season, the Fidelity Bank Ryder Cup at Thunder Hills Country Club. This event is held for the top four point getters over the course of the summer events. 


The age groups are split into two teams, red and blue. Those teams consist of the first place finisher and the fourth, and then the second place finisher and the third. The front nine is played as a best ball with your color-coordinated teammate. Then the back nine is played as a matchplay. The first place finisher plays second place and the third place finisher plays the fourth place finisher.


In the boys 16-17 division Nate Obbink and Wil Sigwarth represented the blue team. Alex Link and Will Coohey represented the red team. In the team match the teams finished all square. Each team was awarded one point. In the single matchplay Link defeated Obbink earning one point for the red team. Sigwarth got a point for the blue team winning over Coohey. 


The girls 16-17 and the 1&4 from the girls 14-15 division battled it out. Katelyn Vaassen and Maggie Heiar wore blue and Ava Kalb and Addison Jones wore red. In the team match Katelyn Vaassen and Maggie Heiar collected two points for the blue team. In the singles matchplay Vaassen received another point for the blue team over Kalb, but Jones topped Heiar earning one point for the red team. 


The boys 14-15 division’s blue team was Jackson Webber and Jaydon Nabb. The red team was Brock Wilson and Bennett Dolter. The team best ball ended all square giving the red and blue team one point. Webber defeated Wilson, one point was awarded to the blue team. Dolter won one point for the red team over Nabb.


The girls 14-15 2&3 and the girls 12-13 divisions combined forces. McKenna Stackis and Elin Mueller were a part of the blue team and Cece Ball and Amber Wilson played for the red team. In the team match the blue team gathered two more points over the red team. In the matchplay event Stackis got a point for the blue team winning over Ball. Mueller also got a point for the red team winning over Wilson. 


In the boys 12-13 division Barrett Reed and Henry Gilbertson wore blue and Cal Martineau and Ben Thill wore red. The blue team took both points up for grabs in the team best ball. But in the individual matchplay the red team took both points back. Martineau defeated Reed and Thill defeated Gilbertson. 


In the girls 10-11 division Rylie Stackis and Landry Rauen represented the blue team. Addie Splinter and Lauren Leibold represented the red team. In the best ball match the red team collected two points. In the singles matchplay Splinter received a point for the red team over Stackis and Rauen received a point for the blue team over Leibold. 


The boys 10-11 division had Reid Herrig and Henry Thier on the blue team and Cooper Smith and Tysen Kronfeldt on the red team. The blue team defeated the red team in the team event awarding the blue team two more points. The blue team also took the two points in the individual matchplay, Herrig topped Smith and and Thier topped Kronfeldt.


The blue team had 18 points overall and the red team had 10.
