The Gigantic Jr. Classic at Bunker Hill marks the halfway point in the DAJT season

The 2021 season is almost over and there’s no better place than Bunker Hill to mark that point. The Gigantic Jr. had perfect weather for golfing, which led to some perfect golf played by participants.

The boys 16-17 division had an exciting ending. Wil Sigwarth and Alex Link battled in a playoff on hole #4. They both shot a 78, but Sigwarth won the playoff for the overall win. “ I honestly didn’t play that well on the front, but I played pretty well on the back which kept me in it. “ Nate Obbink shot a 79 and won a cardback playoff to finish third.

The girls 16-17 was led by Katelyn Vaassen. She shot a personal best 74. “It feels great to get a PR even though it’s a par 69 here, it’s still a good achievement. I played pretty well today and overall I am just happy with how it went.” Ella Kluenser took second with an 86 and Maggie Heiar shot 90 for third.

Jackson Webber in the boys 14-15 division shot even par, 69, for the win. Webber was dialed in with his wedges today from 100 yards and in. “I would hit 4 iron off the tee to about 80-100 yards and then just get up and down is usually how I was making my birdies today .” Bennett Dolter shot a 73 for a second place finish and Jaydon Nabb took third with a 75.

The girls 14-15 division had a tight race, but Ava Kalb won with a 77. “My tee shots were the best part of my round, I was hitting them far and straight.” McKenna Stackis followed up closely behind with a 78 for second and Maylin Coates shot an 81 for third.

There was another close leaderboard in the boys 12-13 division. Ben Thill came out on top with a 39. “My best shot was on hole six, I made a thirty footer for par.” Barrett Reed shot a 40 to finish second and Henry Gilbertson took third with a 42.

In the girls 12-13 division Elin Mueller shot a 44 to finish in first place. Mueller’s round was solid all the way through. “ I had a lot of good shots, I wouldn’t say that I had a best one, but I had a lot of really good ones all day.” Amber Wilson took second with a 47 and Kayleigh Smith shot a 55 for third place.

In the boys 10-11 division Cooper Smith took first with a 40. Smith had a fun time on hole #5,  “ I eagled that hole, I couldn’t see it from where I was standing, but I hit it in from like 80 yards.” Reid Herrig took second place with a 43 and Tyson Kronfeldt shot a 50 to finish third.

Addie Splinter won the girls 10-11 division with a 48. Throughout her round she was focusing on her golf game and her mental game. “ I was hitting my drives straight, staying focused, and just having a lot of fun.” Landry Rauen shot a 56 to finish second and Emily Tanny took third place with a 61.
